Three conservation organizations in the Lake Memphremagog watershed call on election candidates 

Magog, September 21, 2026 – The Association du Marais-de-la-Rivière-aux-Cerises (LAMRAC), Memphrémagog Conservation Inc. (MCI), and the Memphrémagog Nature Foundation (FNM) are using the current election campaign to draw candidates’ attention to land conservation issues. 

The importance of nature 

Nature is an essential ally in supporting public health, community safety, the local economy, and quality of life. Across Quebec, citizens are already helping protect valuable natural environments through local conservation organizations. Accelerating the protection and restoration of natural environments must remain a priority for our communities. 

In the Lake Memphremagog watershed, access to nature is a significant contributor to quality of life. Conservation organizations are working diligently to protect more natural areas, helping reduce the impacts of climate change, safeguard water quality, protect biodiversity, and maintain ecological corridors. The region’s landscapes are also a defining asset in the heart of a major tourism destination.
