Operation Healthy Lake

Operation Healthy Lake is a project led by MCI in 2004 and 2005 on Lake Memphremagog. Its main objective was to assess the health of the body of water using a new innovative approach developed by RAPPEL. The activities carried out included an assessment of siltation and invasion by aquatic plants around the lake, the measurement of physicochemical parameters of the lake’s and its tributaries’ water, as well as a study of the artificialization of its shores.

This exhaustive analysis made it possible to develop a detailed diagnosis of the health of Lake Memphremagog, in addition to making it possible to target the most problematic areas requiring special attention.

This large-scale project, the first of its kind in Quebec, has enabled MCI and other stakeholders in the watershed to better understand the health of Lake Memphremagog and the various threats it faces.

Operation Healthy Lake-Québec - 2005

Phase 1 of Operation Healthy Lake (Quebec):
MCI, in collaboration with biologists from RAPPEL, has produced a study of the health of Lake Memphremagog's canadian portion.

Operation Healthy Lake-Vermont - 2006

MCI completed the Operation Healthy Lake project on the Vermont side, thus giving a more complete picture of the health of the entire lake.
