MCI’s lake patrol begins its activities for the summer of 2021

Memphremagog Conservation Inc (MCI)’s lake patrol begins a new season on Lake Memphremagog and will be patrolling the lake from May to September.

MCI’s patrol works with various partners to monitor water quality in the lake and its tributaries, shoreline activities, and cyanobacteria blooms. They also carry out various scientific studies on the lake. This year, the patrollers will continue their efforts on the monitoring and control of zebra mussels, an exotic invasive species whose presence was noted by the patrollers in 2018. As well, the patrol will update the inventory of pleasure boats on the lake and continue its awareness campaign regarding the best environmental practices for lake users.
